Bhagavad Geeta 17.22

अदेशकाले यद्दानमपात्रेभ्यश्च दीयते।असत्कृतमवज्ञातं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम्।।17.22।।
adeśha-kāle yad dānam apātrebhyaśh cha dīyate asat-kṛitam avajñātaṁ tat tāmasam udāhṛitam
Meaning
Giving without thoughtfulness—wrong timing, wrong recipient, wrong attitude—wastes resources and creates harm. Strategic generosity requires discernment and respect.
Translation
The gift which is made at an inappropriate place and time, and to undeserving persons, without proper respect and with disdain, is declared to be born of tamas.
