Bhagavad Geeta 2.62

ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंसः सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते। सङ्गात् संजायते कामः कामात्क्रोधोऽभिजायते।।2.62।।

dhyāyato viṣhayān puṁsaḥ saṅgas teṣhūpajāyate saṅgāt sañjāyate kāmaḥ kāmāt krodho ’bhijāyate

Meaning

What you focus on repeatedly creates emotional attachment. Unmet expectations from that attachment breed frustration. Break the cycle by consciously directing your attention elsewhere.

Translation

- In the case of a person who dwells on objects, there arises attachment to them. From attachment grows hankering, and from hankering springs anger.
